The Indonesian American Community in Northern California and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, in cooperation with the City and County of San Francisco, invite you to join us for 18th Annual Indonesian Day on Saturday, July 23rd, 2011, from 10 am to 5 pm at Union Square, San Francisco.
Established in 1994, this event has become a foundation of cultural events in San Francisco. Giving Indonesians an outlet to celebrate proud heritage and at the same time, thrilling the local Bay Area with vibrant colors of Indonesian's Batik and Kebaya, inimitable sounds of Sasando, and luscious flavor of spicy grilled chicken, beef rendang, gado-gado, lemper, and martabak manis. This year theme's is "Indonesian Treasures" to present our country's rich cultural heritages. Indonesian Day 2011 will feature National Dress Parade, Indonesian Fashion Show, traditional as well as contemporary music performances, folk dancers from five largest islands: Java (Tari Topeng Betawi), Sulawesi (Tarian Kipas), Sumatra (Tari Zapin Hasanah), Kalimantan (Tari Giring-Giring), and Irian Jaya (Tarian Tifa). Celebrated Indonesian music performers singer (Ridho Irama), will join the local talents artists for a full day of fun and exciting productions.
To complete the experience, traditional Indonesian local restaurants will be serving up traditional Indonesian dishes to allow you palate to take part in this cultural event.
